Our service providers at Ladder Health are here to make your virtual therapy visits effective and comfortable. We understand that many families are new to virtual pediatric therapy and will guide you through the process. All visits, including the initial evaluation, are scheduled for 45 minutes and are available at a variety of different days and times. Knowing what to expect during a virtual visit can help you feel more comfortable as your family begins their therapy journey.

During an Initial Evaluation, Your Service Provider Will:

  • Listen to your concerns and discuss your reasons for seeking therapeutic services
  • Ask questions about your child’s health and development.
  • Observe your child’s current skills in the home environment.
  • Make recommendations about ongoing therapy, including suggested frequency of therapy visits.
  • Draft goals to meet your family’s unique needs.

During a Therapy Session, Your Service Provider Will:

  • Review your child’s progress since their last appointment.
  • Observe daily routines and help you problem solve through tricky areas.
  • Collaborate with you to develop and implement therapeutic strategies to promote your child’s growth and development.
  • Provide guidance on activities to practice between sessions.
  • Develop a plan with you for the next visit so that you always know what to expect.

Be Prepared to:

  • Schedule therapy sessions during challenging routines (mealtime, dressing, playtime, etc) so that your provider can give helpful suggestions.
  • Give your service provider feedback about which strategies are working and which need to be modified.
  • Have interrupted conversations- Your child may require your undivided attention at times and we’re happy to repeat instructions or redo demonstrations.
  • Work through technological issues- be it the camera, the microphone, or the internet connection, we know that visits may get disrupted.

Right Before a Visit:

  • Turn off TV’s and remove other distracting toys/items.
  • Let everyone else at home know that a virtual visit is going to occur.
  • Make sure your device is fully charged.
  • If necessary, write down any important questions/comments that you need to share with your provider. Sessions are busy and it can be hard to remember everything in the moment.

Following Each Visit Expect to:

  • Receive a note from your provider summarizing everything discussed and practiced during the visit.
  • Have new activities to work into your daily routine and understand how these work towards your family’s goals.
  • Know the date, time, and focus of your next therapy session.
